Thématique :

My work concerns the evolutionary ecology of symbiosis. I'm particularly interested in exploring the evolutionary significance of maternally-inherited symbionts (Wolbachia, Cardinium, Arsenophonus ...) to arthropods (mosquitoes, ticks, spiders, wasps, bat flies ...). While some of these heritable symbionts act as beneficial partners that contribute to host adaptation against environmental stresses, some others are subtle parasites that manipulate host reproduction to their own advantage. Among their most far-reaching effects is the facilitation of ecological and reproductive isolation of host populations, making heritable symbionts important drivers of arthropod evolutionary ecology.
