Selon les termes du communiqu\u00e9 du Cirad, les \u00e9quipes du Cirad, de l\u2019IRD MIVEGEC ( Eric Leroy) et de l\u2019INRAE en collaboration avec des partenaires sud-africains, am\u00e9ricains, congolais et gabonais viennent d\u2019utiliser les fourmis l\u00e9gionnaires comme \u2018outil\u2019 d’\u00e9chantillonnage des virus v\u00e9g\u00e9taux et animaux circulant dans une for\u00eat profonde du Gabon. Cette approche innovante d\u2019\u00e9cologie virale ouvre la voie \u00e0 une meilleure surveillance des zoonoses virales au niveau des \u00e9cosyst\u00e8mes forestiers tropicaux.<\/strong><\/p>\n

L\u2019originalit\u00e9 des travaux, publi\u00e9s dans la revue Peer Community Journal, vient de l\u2019id\u00e9e d\u2019utiliser les fourmis l\u00e9gionnaires comme relai d\u2019\u00e9chantillonnage des virus animaux et v\u00e9g\u00e9taux circulants dans un \u00e9cosyst\u00e8me forestier tropical. Les colonies de fourmis l\u00e9gionnaires constitu\u00e9es de centaines de milliers d\u2019individus effectuent des raids spectaculaires, chassant une tr\u00e8s large gamme de proies vivantes, mais aussi d\u00e9vorant des carcasses d’animaux ou se nourrissant directement de plantes. Vers <\/strong>une <\/strong>surveillance pr\u00e9coce des zoonoses virales en milieu forestier tropical<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Ces travaux pr\u00e9curseurs repr\u00e9sentent une preuve de concept qui pourrait ouvrir la voie \u00e0 des \u00e9tudes \u00e0 grande \u00e9chelle sur le virome – ensemble des virus – de tous les \u00e9cosyst\u00e8mes forestiers tropicaux. Les fourmis l\u00e9gionnaires pourraient ainsi devenir des alli\u00e9s de choix dans les travaux sur l\u2019\u00e9mergence des maladies et dans la surveillance pr\u00e9coce de virus zoonotiques pouvant passer de l\u2019animal \u00e0 l\u2019homme et entrainer la survenue d\u2019\u00e9pid\u00e9mies.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
